Back pain, shoulder pain, and neck pain are regular during working period, but what kind of pain is a sign of herniated disc?

Symptoms of herniated disc

Pain on the neck, chest, waist, back, lower back, or shoulder that connect with the neck. The pain could be sharp or like an electric shock.

Intermittent pain on the neck or back which continues for more than 2 weeks.

Pain on the whole back or lower back and also radiates to legs.

Pain that interrupts daily activities or pain while moving and lying down.

  • Aging - the clear gel-like substance in the intervertebral disc begins to deteriorate

  • Lifting excessively heavy objects or lifting heavy items with incorrect posture

  • Playing sports with repetitive impact

  • Sudden forceful movements/abrupt improper movements

  • Increased weight leading to obesity, causing the intervertebral disc to bear excessive load

  • Sitting in the same position for extended periods while working, without moving the body

How to Prevent Herniated Disc:

In addition to being careful when moving your body, avoiding lifting heavy objects, and adjusting your sitting posture while working, regular exercise will help extend the lifespan of your intervertebral discs, keeping them strong and less prone to deterioration.

If you suspect you're experiencing pain from office syndrome caused by a herniated disc pressing on nerves, you should promptly consult a specialist in spine disorders and undergo examination to determine the true cause of the pain, in order to avoid chronic complications and subsequent disability.
