"Like being reborn in the same body" – from a minor accident to unforgettable pain.

a-renewed-life

"After the surgery...it really worked. It's like being reborn in the same body." These are the heartfelt words of Ms. Patnaree, who once suffered from chronic pain due to cervical disc degeneration and nerve compression.

From a minor accident to escalating pain.

It all started with an accident – "falling down the stairs." At first, she thought it was just a minor bruise, but after two weeks, the pain intensified every day. Starting with stiffness in the back of her neck, it gradually spread to her shoulder blades before agonizingly radiating down her arm.

"Back then, just turning my neck would give me a sharp, stinging pain, like needles pricking me inside," she recounted, recalling the agonizing period. The pain wasn't fleeting; it was a deep, persistent ache. Changing positions, walking, or even moving as gently as possible, every movement seemed to intensify the pain. "Even after weeks of symptomatic treatment with medication, physical therapy, and various palliative methods, there was no significant improvement."

A decisive decision to escape the pain.

It wasn't until she had an MRI and received the clear answer, "Surgery is needed," that anxiety overwhelmed her. Driven by fear, she began searching for information and found stories of patients who had undergone surgery for similar conditions, many of whom had returned to normal lives.

My confidence came from talking to the doctor, who gave clear explanations. "The doctor didn't try to scare me, but explained how my condition would improve if I had surgery and how I could return to my normal life." This made me believe that I would recover.

"Once the surgery is complete... the pain ends there."

After the surgery, the first thing she felt was, "The pain that had radiated to her arm...it was gone." Only the slightest pain from the minor surgical incision remained, which she said "was nothing compared to the suffering she had experienced before."

This is what she wants to convey to those who are hesitant: "You definitely made the right decision," because pain shouldn't be something we have to endure every day, and the right treatment not only relieves the pain, but it helps a person "like being reborn in the same body."

Thank you, Ms. Patnaree, for trusting S Hospital to take care of you.
