Like a broken piece of wood in my back, almost unable to walk… until a miracle changed my life.

miracle-of-new-life

"The pain radiates down my legs, a sharp, stabbing sensation like a piece of wood snapping in my back." The fear that overwhelmed Thanara wasn't just the physical pain; it was the dread that could change her life forever. What would happen to her family if she couldn't walk?

The beginning of suffering that gnaws at the body and mind.

Ms. Thanara, an employee of a private company, has been suffering from chronic back pain for almost three years. Initially, it was just minor pain that seemed to go away on its own, but it gradually worsened, becoming a nightmare that plagued every aspect of her life.

The pain gradually spread from her back, radiating down both legs, especially her left leg which was the most painful. Every day she lived in agony. She couldn't work, couldn't sit for long periods, and couldn't stand for long. Even simple tasks like washing her face, brushing her teeth, or bending down to pick up things became difficult. She tried everything—painkillers, physical therapy—but nothing improved.

A turning point that almost left me unable to walk for the rest of my life.

Then, one day, a major turning point occurred. While sitting at her desk working as usual, she suddenly felt like a piece of wood snapped in the middle of her back. There was a loud, clear "crack" sound. A sharp pain shot through her, making it almost impossible for her to stand. She tried to move, but her legs wouldn't respond as before. Fear began to overwhelm her. "If I can't walk... how will I work? And what about the people I leave behind? How will they cope?" It wasn't just her body that suffered; her mental state crumbled as well.

Life-changing treatment

Finally, she decided to consult a specialist and discovered that she had a herniated disc compressing a nerve. The only way to solve this problem was surgery.

Although she had heard that spinal surgery was a major procedure, she felt more confident because the doctor explained every step in detail. "It involves using a small endoscope to remove whatever is compressing the nerve. You can live a normal life right after the surgery."

"A real miracle."

After the surgery, she woke up feeling excited. "We were wondering... if I'd be able to walk again?"

She tried moving slowly. "It's gone! It's so relieved! The pain is gone!" she exclaimed happily. The feeling of standing and sitting was now normal. She could get up and walk immediately, eat by herself, and even sleep. "I can sleep in any position without any pain!"

What was once difficult has become commonplace. She feels like she's been given a new lease on life. "I'm so happy. We're back to normal. It's like I've been given a new life. We shouldn't have come so late. We wouldn't have wasted so much time enduring the suffering," she said, regretting the years she had to endure it.

Thank you, Ms. Thanara, for trusting S Hospital to take care of you.
