Experience of injecting cement to treat spinal collapse resulting from a car accident, by Mr. Sakorn.

Ms. Sakorn, 67 years old, from Suphan Buri province, was involved in a car accident while riding in a vehicle due to carelessness. This resulted in severe pain and shortness of breath. She initially received treatment at a clinic in the provincial town, where she received two injections. However, her condition did not improve, and the pain worsened to the point where she was unable to walk on her own.

His children had to take him to Bangkok for treatment, where they met Dr. Dittapong Boonampon. Dr. Boonampon recommended an MRI scan, which revealed a fractured vertebra and internal bleeding, along with spinal collapse causing hip subsidence. He then recommended treatment with cement injections to correct the vertebral collapse.

Because if surgical treatment were performed to stabilize the spine, like in young people with spinal fractures, by fixing the bone with metal implants, it might not be feasible in osteoporotic patients due to their age and the risks associated with thin, porous bone. Such surgery might not securely anchor the bone to the metal screws, potentially leading to the metal implants becoming loose and dislodging, requiring a long recovery period of 2-3 months.

After treatment, the patient was able to stand up and walk normally on their own without pain.
