I have back pain that radiates down my feet. It's even difficult to lift my legs and get out of bed.

"The pain radiates from my back down to my feet. Even showering, I can't feel the showerhead on my feet. It's difficult to lift my legs or get out of bed. I can't carry out my daily activities without surgery."

Causes of back pain.

Melda shared her firsthand experience with endoscopic treatment for a herniated disc, recounting how her pain resulted from a fall that left her buttocks on the ground. Initially, she didn't feel anything and didn't pay much attention to it, thinking it was just normal muscle pain. However, over time, the pain persisted and worsened to the point where her toes became numb.

The diagnosis and the shock upon discovering the cause.

Nurse: How did you feel when the doctor read the MRI results and diagnosed you with a herniated disc compressing a nerve?

Ms. Melda: I was very shocked at the time. I never thought that just slipping and falling would cause the intervertebral disc inside my spine to rupture and herniate, compressing the nerves and causing numbness and tingling all the way down to my toes. It made life very difficult. I was worried that I would have problems walking before I even got old.

Fear before surgery

Nurse: The doctor recommended surgery. How do you feel about that?

Melda: I'm scared because I don't know anything about the spinal cord or spine. It's something very delicate for me. I keep thinking all sorts of things... that the wound will be big, that the recovery will be long, and that I'm afraid I won't be able to walk again because I'm still traumatized by past experiences.

But I happened to meet an acquaintance who told me about a new type of surgery that's not as scary as before. Combined with the doctor's detailed explanation, which gave me more confidence, I decided to undergo the treatment.

Choosing S Spine and Joint Hospital.

Nurse: Why did you choose to receive treatment at S Spine and Joint Hospital?

Melda: Being a rather meticulous person, I thought that if I were to have surgery, I had to choose the best for myself. So, I searched the internet for information on the best hospitals for spinal treatment.

One of them was S Spine & Joint Hospital, which came up as number 1. So I read more information, which increased my confidence.

Then, we compared the medical costs at each hospital and found them to be similar. However, this hospital stood out for its advanced treatment technology, specifically endoscopic surgery, which involves a small incision of only 0.5 centimeters. This eliminates the need for large open incisions like in the past, further reassuring us that if we were to undergo this type of surgery, recovery would be faster, and we could regain our normal walking ability. This hospital seems like the best choice.

Post-surgery experience

Nurse: What did you feel in the first few seconds after leaving the operating room?

Ms. Melda: The first feeling I had when I woke up after the treatment was being able to get up on my own and walk to the bathroom normally, as if I hadn't had surgery. It was better than I expected. At first, I thought the surgery would be very painful, but there was hardly any pain from the surgical wound at all.

Thank you for being a part of your treatment at S Spine & Joint.

We are delighted and grateful to Ms. Melda for sharing her treatment experience and for allowing "S Spine & Joint" to care for her, enabling her to return to a happy life once again.
