Today we have a new method that may help you: “pain relief with nerve block injections,” or medically known as Selective Nerve Root Blocks (SNRBs).

What is SNRB?

SNRB is a diagnostic and therapeutic method that helps identify the cause of pain resulting from nerve compression or inflammation, especially when MRI or X-ray examinations cannot clearly identify the cause.

How to create an SNRB.

• The doctor will combine several medications, usually including anesthetics and anti-inflammatory drugs.

• A portable X-ray machine (fluoroscopy) is used to guide the injection.

• Injecting medication into the area surrounding the nerve suspected to be causing the pain.

Advantages of SNRB

• Aids in diagnosis: If the pain subsides after the injection, it indicates that the nerve is the source of the problem.

• Pain relief: Most patients experience immediate pain relief after the injection.

• May provide a cure: In some cases where pain is primarily caused by friction and inflammation, SNRB may provide a complete cure.
