This is the story of Ms. Nuannong, whose life was transformed by a single, crucial decision—one that helped her stand tall again, free from pain and full of confidence.

When people hear the term “back pain,” many think of minor aches after a long day’s work. But for Ms. Nuannong, it was far more than that. Her back pain crept in slowly, gradually stealing her ability to live freely and stripping away her everyday happiness.

“Suddenly, my back started hurting. At first, I thought it was just fatigue and would go away. Painkillers helped only briefly. By morning, the pain came back even worse—with tightness in the hips and radiating pain down my leg.”

The Fear That Made Her Endure It

As her symptoms worsened, she eventually returned to the hospital and underwent an MRI scan, which revealed a level 4 herniated disc compressing a nerve. Immediate surgery was recommended.

“I was scared—scared I wouldn’t be able to walk again, afraid of becoming disabled, of not living normally. I’d heard horror stories of large incisions, extreme post-op pain, and not being able to walk.”

Her fear led her to postpone surgery, opting instead for alternative treatments. But the pain only worsened with time—starting from her back and hips, it eventually radiated down her leg, severely affecting her daily life.

When Pain Leaves You No Choice but to Decide

As the unbearable pain peaked, Ms. Nuannong knew she had to find a way out. Her back pain had already stolen too many precious moments from her life.

“The pain was so bad that my partner had to support me just to walk. My leg was numb—it didn’t feel like mine anymore.”

One day, hope returned. Her younger brother found a video of a patient with similar symptoms who had fully recovered. That prompted her to consult a spine specialist—this time, she received updated information that completely changed her perception of surgery.

“At that point, all I wanted was to get better and live normally again. After listening to the doctor, I felt reassured. He explained that there’s a new minimally invasive technique using an endoscope—small incision, less pain, clear and straightforward. It wasn’t the major surgery I feared.”

Everything Changed After Surgery

“Just one night after surgery... I was able to get up and walk. I can’t explain it—it was like all the pain vanished. It felt as though someone had lifted the pain off my body.”

She spoke through tears, overwhelmed with joy, like someone who had just been given a brand-new life.

Posterior Cervical Endoscopic Discectomy (PSCD)

Posterior Cervical Endoscopic Discectomy (PSCD)

Neck pain radiating down the arm is typically caused by nerve compression in the cervical spine. Increasingly, younger individuals are being diagnosed with cervical disc herniation due to daily lifestyle habits such as prolonged computer use, looking down at mobile phones for extended periods, poor posture, and injury from accidents.
Posterior Spinal Lumbar Discectomy (PSLD)

Posterior Spinal Lumbar Discectomy (PSLD)

Lower back pain radiating down the leg often stems from nerve compression in the lumbar spine. This condition is common among working adults and the elderly, as well as those with habits that accelerate spinal degeneration—such as prolonged sitting or standing in the same position, improper lifting techniques, spinal injuries from accidents, and high-impact physical activities.

A herniated disc occurs when an intervertebral disc slips out of its normal position and may press on nearby nerves. This condition commonly affects the lumbar spine, particularly at levels L4-L5 and L5-S1. It typically results from age-related disc degeneration, prolonged sitting, improper lifting techniques, or spinal trauma from accidents.

Spondylolisthesis is a condition in which one vertebra slips forward out of its normal alignment. This commonly occurs in the lower spine, especially at the L5-S1 level. It is frequently found in older adults due to degenerative disc disease, where the weakening of spinal discs leads to instability and vertebral displacement.
Endoscopic ACDF

Endoscopic ACDF

Endoscopic ACDF is a surgical procedure used to treat severe cervical disc degeneration or disc herniation in the neck. When the disc becomes too damaged to absorb shock or herniates and compresses the spinal nerves, it can cause radiating pain down the arms and hands, significantly affecting daily life.

Vertebral fractures or collapses are serious spinal conditions that typically occur due to bone degeneration, accidents, or severe trauma. These injuries can lead to significant pain and impair mobility. They are mostly seen in patients aged 50 and above, especially those with underlying osteoporosis.
Nerve Root Block Injection (SNRB)

Nerve Root Block Injection (SNRB)

Patients suffering from back pain caused by inflammation of the nerve root or foramen—often due to herniated discs or spinal joint inflammation—may experience radiating pain along the nerve pathway, even if the condition is still in its early stages. In such cases, a Selective Nerve Root Block (SNRB) can help reduce inflammation and alleviate pain effectively.
