Full Endo TLIF (Full Endoscopic Transection Incision) technique for treating spinal displacement reduces scarring.

Treatment for spinal nerve compression, also known as "herniated disc," has advanced with the latest medical innovation: Full Endo TLIF (Full Endoscopic Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion). This technique not only alleviates patient symptoms but also provides a significantly better treatment experience than traditional methods.

Spine specialists explain that Full Endo TLIF is a combination of spinal fusion and intervertebral disc replacement using a miniature endoscopic camera. This minimizes tissue and muscle damage, resulting in significantly smaller incisions and faster recovery compared to traditional methods.

Spondylolisthesis is a common condition, especially in people over 50, and is more prevalent in women than men due to differences in muscle and ligament strength. This condition occurs when a vertebra slips out of its normal alignment toward the front, most commonly in the lower back, or at the L4-L5 level.

Research from the National Institutes of Health in the United States has confirmed the effectiveness of the Endoscopic TLIF technique, showing better recovery outcomes compared to the traditional MIS TLIF technique, especially in the first 6 months after treatment.

At S Spine Hospital, a pioneer in the use of Full Endo TLIF technique in Thailand since 2023, more than 20 patients have been treated in just 4 months, all with highly satisfactory treatment results.

Method of treating spinal nerve compression using the Full Endo TLIF technique.

Currently, there are various methods for treating spinal displacement. S Spine Hospital offers the latest technique, Full Endoscopic TLIF, which has minimal impact on the patient's muscles.

This method uses an endoscopic camera instead of a large incision. An endoscope is inserted without cutting any muscles. The doctor removes the part that is compressing the nerve, such as the intervertebral disc, ligaments, or some problematic vertebrae. Then...

An artificial intervertebral disc (Peek) is inserted via endoscopy, and interbody fusion of the spinal joints is performed using three additional percutaneous screws.

This technique causes minimal damage to the spinal structure and significantly reduces patient pain compared to traditional treatments.

There are two types of endoscopic TLIF (Long-Term Intraocular Intervention).

1. Endoscopic Assisted TLIF: Used in most hospitals in Thailand. Two small incisions are made, and separate instruments are used. Although it's endoscopic, it's similar to open surgery. Instruments must pass through muscle layers, which may cause further injury when adjusting positions and carries a risk of instrument misuse. The procedure takes approximately 2.5 hours.

2. Full Endo TLIF: Available exclusively at S Spine Hospital. Only one incision is made, and a special device combining a camera and instruments is used, minimizing direct muscle damage. The doctor can see the instrument throughout the procedure. The procedure takes approximately 2 hours.

Advantages of Full Endo TLIF

1. The patient recovered quickly.

2. The surgical incision is small.

3. Within one week, the patient should be able to walk freely.
