“Because the Pain Was So Severe, I Had to Take Sleeping Pills Every Night. I Was Afraid That One Day, I Would No Longer Be Able to Carry My Grandchildren.”

From chronic back pain that she thought was simply accumulated Office Syndrome, the symptoms gradually became radiating leg pain, numbness like electric shocks, and pain that disturbed her sleep every night.

This is the story of Ms. Sailosopin Luengsuwan, 60 years old, an office worker who had worked for more than 33 years. She was once confident that her body was still strong. She could get up quickly, walk fast, and move around with ease. But over time, she began to suffer from back pain that radiated down her leg, numbness like electric shocks, and pain so severe that she had to take sleeping pills every night.

What worried her the most was not only her own pain, but the fear that one day, this condition might prevent her from carrying her grandchildren, playing with them, or spending time with the little ones who meant the world to her.

Accumulated Lifestyle and Work Habits She Never Thought Could Become a Risk

Ms. Sailosopin shared that throughout more than 33 years of working life, her routine was similar to that of many office workers. She had accumulated Office Syndrome-like habits over many years, including prolonged sitting, repetitive body movements, and staying in the same postures for long periods of time.

In addition to her office work, she was someone who moved quickly, walked fast, and had always liked lifting heavy objects. Because she felt that her body was still strong, she never imagined that these habits could become a risk to her spine.

Although she tried to take care of herself by swimming and doing yoga at home by following YouTube videos, her back pain never fully went away. Instead, it kept recurring over time.

From Chronic Back Pain to Radiating Leg Pain That Made It Difficult to Sleep

Ms. Sailosopin had experienced back pain for years, but the symptoms became noticeably worse over the past three to four months when the pain began to radiate down her leg, especially on the right side. The pain was so severe that she could not sleep on her right side. Every night, she had to take sleeping pills just to be able to sleep through the pain.

In addition to the pain, she also experienced numbness. The numbness became so severe that when she pinched herself, she could barely feel pain. She also felt sharp, electric shock-like sensations that continued to bother her. These symptoms changed her daily life completely.

She had tried several treatment methods, including massage, acupuncture, and medication prescribed by doctors in her province for as long as six months. However, her symptoms still did not improve as she had hoped.

Pain That Reached the Heart, Because She Feared She Could No Longer Carry Her Grandchildren

One of the factors that worsened Ms. Sailosopin’s back pain was carrying her grandchildren continuously over the years.

She has two grandchildren. The older one is seven years old, and the younger one is one and a half years old. They are an important source of joy and encouragement in her life. Every time she bent down to carry them, she felt a sharp pain along the back of her waist. Her greatest fear was that if the symptoms did not improve, she might no longer be able to carry or play with them as she used to.

For a grandmother, being close to her grandchildren but unable to carry them, play with them, or do activities together can bring a sense of loneliness and emotional pain that is no less difficult than the physical pain itself. Her grandchildren are the apple of her eye and one of the main reasons she wanted to recover, so she could return to a happy life with her family once again.

Deciding to Seek Treatment at a Specialized Hospital After a Coworker’s Recommendation

After trying several treatments without improvement, Ms. Sailosopin received a recommendation from a coworker at the head office to visit S Spine & Joint Hospital.

When she arrived and met Dr. Pornnarit, she was impressed from the very first conversation. The doctor spoke politely, explained everything clearly, and helped her better understand her condition.

After undergoing a detailed new MRI scan, the results revealed two problem areas that were causing her back pain, radiating leg pain, and numbness. The doctor then recommended a treatment plan.

With confidence in the doctor’s explanation and the hospital’s clear information, Ms. Sailosopin decided to proceed with treatment immediately that same day, in what she described as “examined and treated right away.”

She shared that she did not feel afraid because she had undergone other surgeries before. This time, she felt confident that if the condition was treated at the root cause, the symptoms that had disturbed her life for so long could improve.

The Result After Treatment: “Completed in One Day” and Truly Able to Return Home

After treatment, the results were exactly as the doctor had explained. She was able to recover within one day and truly return home.

The next day, Ms. Sailosopin could walk normally. Her wound was dry, and there were no concerning problems.

What impressed her was that the doctor did not only focus on the treatment itself, but also carefully demonstrated how to get up, sit down, and move after surgery, so she could take care of herself properly after returning home.

One important instruction the doctor emphasized was that, during the early recovery period, she should not carry her grandchildren right away. This would allow her body to heal properly and reduce the risk of recurring pain.

Returning to Life Again, for Her Own Happiness and Her Family’s

For Ms. Sailosopin, this treatment was not only about relieving pain. It was about being able to return to normal life once again.

Today, she feels happy that she received treatment that addressed the true cause of her symptoms. She now has hope that she will be able to live more happily with her family again.

She would like to share a message with anyone experiencing back pain, radiating leg pain, numbness, or electric shock-like sensations: do not leave the symptoms untreated for too long, and do not keep repeating the same treatments if the symptoms are not improving.

The sooner the cause is found, the sooner proper treatment can begin.

“Know the disease early. Treat it early. Recover sooner.”

For your own happiness, and so you can return to being fully present with the people you love once again.
